Clasping his cold steel hands into Fists Lord Chōsokabe allowed his mind to drift to thoughts of a pleasant village surrounded by rice fields. Children played there, Young people were married, People worked and died in harmony with their ancestors,Kami and all under the beleavence of the Divines. Now all those laughing voices has been silenced, their would be no more weddings, Festivals or Births to celebrate in Kroons village. Now it would be as silent as the Grave ...This was unacceptable

"These people were under my protection" for a moment rage bleeds into the voice "They paid their taxes and had the right to live a simple life of happiness and endeavor, They did not bare the sins of their masters, Damnation I never even knew their names or their faces. And yet now they are used in pawns in games they were never apart of"

The tea cup shatters as his hand clasps it to tightly

"No, I refuse to allow this to go unpunished. I will not allow these people to be murdered for no reason other then to make a statement. I refuse by all the Gods in the celestial Heavens I refuse. I dont care what must be done and what stone must be looked under we will have answers so that the spirits of the dead may rest it is the least I can offer them"

"Yoshi-Sensei if you would please take an escort and go to Kroons village in order to offer funeral rites for the dead. Kenshin-San please allot funds to the Temple of Yoshi so that they might erect a shine to those who have lost their lives, Incense and offerings to be paid for from my treasury also. I will not allow these poor souls to be forgotten and I pray they will forgive me should it have been my actions that brought this end upon them"

"They were mine to protect and I failed them, this is my sin to bare"
Lord chosokabe Zaizen
Daimyō of the chosokabe clan

Watching the display of raw emotion from the usually stoic lord, Hisakawa speaks ups.

"My lord, I know now is a time for grief, and your desire for retribution is justified. But we are clearly being tested. Being watched. To show that this has effected you so deeply may be just what this unseen enemy wants."

There is a deep sigh as the samurai tries to choose his words carefully.

"I do not wish to be cold. Obviously these people need proper respect and recompense. But we must be careful in how we act. We much catch our enemy without them knowing they are caught. We need much more information before we act in the very least."

Noble lord forgive your servant for being unclear, I beg your forgiveness that my failure has caused me to fail you further. When I said the village has been cleaned I should have stated that there are no bodies, the villagers are gone. To the untrained eye there is no sign of violence at a all, my investigators have however discovered very suitable indications of violence that were not completely disguised. We have enough to show that the villagers, or at least the majority of them, were killed in Kroon but other than that we cannot be sure what happened. Investigations shall continue and I take comfort in their inability to hide every detail from our eyes, our enemy is not perfect and is unlikely to have had help from within the clan.

"Chōsokabe-Dono, I will take the duty of shepherding priests and builders to erect a shrine, but I do not think the dead will be content until this insulting attack has been answered.

Better to make it a tribute to your vengeance than a monument to your enemy's victory.

Regardless with their cowardice of stealing away the bodies, the construction of a shrine is doubly important now, I will see to the priests beginning it right away, and look forward to your consecrating it for war later."
