Union Background.

Once a world with no native population but acting as a center for all portal travel between worlds, this land was a valuable military asset and has seen its share of bloodshed.

Originally an empty shard, it was the home of the council of Union, a council that in theory represented all of the Shards.  A few years before the Shards joined together to form one world the Shard of Union crashed into the Shard of Archipelago killing many people, destroying the Fenris isles.

Now part of the Shards world the region of Union is slowly being populated by refugees from other regions/continents. It now boasts several settlements such as Yana a settlement mainly of refugee fey, Compton a beach resort with a tacky reputation and the longest amusement pier in the known worlds, New Borgengast a home for refugee Salemites and Institute of Curiosities a large nature reserve and place of study

Union is small by comparison to other former Shards, covering most of the land is a vast fertile plain where once stood the great volcano called the Union Eye.
